Caleb Gafrarar Earns Pole Position, Heat Race Win and Podium in Utah

It was the second event weekend of the 2022 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour as Caleb Gafrarar and Rolison Performance Group (RPG) took on the ultra-fast Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC). Competing in both the X30 Junior and KA100 Junior classes, Gafrarar and his Circle K Stores backed Kosmic earned a pole position, prefinal win, podium result, fast lap honors and was noted as the biggest mover in one of the main events as he earned an additional four top-ten results to add to his resume.

Caleb’s biggest success came in the X30 Junior class where he kicked off his event weekend on Saturday morning with a fifth place qualifying effort. Showing his pace, Gafrarar drove to the front of the field and handily won the prefinal before being relegated back to seventh on the results sheet due to a push back bumper penalty that was applied post-race. Motivated to move forward in the main event, Gafrarar drove to P3 and scored his first podium result of the weekend.

Sunday would prove to be a little more challenging in the X30 Junior class. After an uncharacteristic seventh place qualifying effort, Gafrarar failed to finish the complete race distance in the prefinal despite scoring the fastest lap of the race. Coming from the tail of the field during the main event, the RPG driver and multi-time 2022 race winner climbed all the way to fourth, narrowly missing the final step of the podium and was the biggest position gainer in the day’s final.

On the KA100 Junior side of his program, Gafrarar turned his Saturday morning pole position into a prefinal win and inside front row starting spot for the main event. Looking to carry the momentum and complete the daily sweep, Caleb was a victim of some hard racing by other drivers and closed his main event in the fifth position. Sunday would again prove to be more difficult for the youngster as a 12th place result in qualifying led to a P20 position on the results sheets after scoring the fastest lap of the race but also incurring a penalty in the KA100 Junior prefinal. Putting it all behind him prior to the main event, Gafrarar drove from 20th to sixth in another valiant effort.

“Not the weekend we had hoped for based on results but still a good weekend at the racetrack,” expressed Gafrarar. “We have some work to do before heading to the Pro Tour race in Indiana, but I am confident that we can come out on top and claim race wins and championships to end the Pro Tour season.”

With little time off, Caleb Gafrarar will jet set his way to Italy and the second round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy this coming weekend at Cremona Karting in San Martino del Lago, Italy.
